Now and Then, former New Hearts of Oak Hotel, Nantyffyllon, Maesteg
The former Rhymney Brewery pub, the New Hearts of Oak Hotel, Nantyffyllon, Maesteg. The front of the hotel was on the now demolished section of Coegnant Road, the rear of the hotel originally overlooked a railway line where the main road, Heol Tywith now runs. The name of the pub is still remembered as the bus stop to the right of the Streetview image is known as 'Hearts of Oak'.

Now and Then, former Horse & Groom, Maesteg
The former Horse & Groom, 128 Commercial Street, Maesteg, as it was, above, as a Rhymney Brewery pub and below on Google Street View as it is today, split into 2, a pizza take-away and an optician. The modern Rhymney Brewery today has a bar in Maesteg, The Federation Bar, which is almost opposite this former pub.

Cross Inn celebrates 2 years of brewing with a beer festival!
The Cross Inn at Garth, near Maesteg will, this weekend, be holding a beer festival to celebrate two years of brewing at the pub. The Festival, from Friday-Sunday 13th-15th July 2012 will feature som

Wye Valley's Butty Bach 4.5%
At the Festival Table:
Orange Tri 4.5% a dark beer dry hopped with first gold to give an chocolate orange flavour.
Cwrw Tri 4.5% a very popular dark beer with a rich coffee start with a dark chocolate finish.
Dragons Fire 4.6% a red coloured beer originally brewed for the six nations
Landlady's Challenge 4.2% My second brew. A light coloured beer brewed using challenger hops

Maesteg gets a brewery!

The end-of-the raliway line town of Maesteg finally has a destination worth going to as the Cross Inn has started brewing beer. This is this first brewery in the area since 1898 and landlord Dai Morgan has built the brewery on land adjacent to his pub.The first brew has been named Maiden Ale.
