Brecon Brewing Sie Deutsch

A bit of an odd beer this, the pumpclip proclaims its 'a dark bock bier' but the colour is red-brown. Ah its been matured for 2 months so its one of Busters' experiments, closer examination of the pumpclip reveals Genesis 2:i, a rather hit 'n' miss series of beers.
Aroma: fruit, old grapes, quite musty, almost Grappa-like
Taste: Sweet, alcoholic, 2 months maturing on a bed of hops should really have imparted more flavour but I guess they added to the
aftertaste: bitter, butterscotch flavour, not to my taste and reminds more of a Belgium style of beer rather than German Bock. Still at 6% it packs a punch for the seasonal drinkers.

Celebrate Brecknock's Glory

This weekend sees the start of the events leading up to the Royal Welsh Show, where this year, Brecknockshire is the featured county, so Brecon Brewing has proudly produced a beer showcasing the best of Brecknockshire!

Brecknock's Glory is described as a fabulous blend of Brecon Water, malted Marris Otter barley and British-grown Progress and Pioneer hops. A crisp, tawny Best Bitter, with a joyful, refreshing hoppy character – Surely the finest beer in Brecknockshire?

It will be available at the Royal Welsh Advisory Fund’s Lunch at Talgarth on Sunday, hosted by the BBC's Adam Henson, as well as at the Grasslands event at Merthyr Cynog on Friday 8th June.

Brecon Brewing eill be there with their market stand as well, so please come and say hello to Martin and Angus and buy some beer to take home to enjoy!"

Meet the Brewer at the City Arms

Above: An old photo of Buster, taken in Cardiff City Hall during the Great Welsh Beer & Cider Festival in 2008

The best pub in Cardiff, the City Arms, will be holding a 'Meet the Brewer Night' from 7pm on Tuesday 28th February with Justin 'Buster' Grant from the Brecon Brewing Company. Should be a good night, then again every night is a good night in the City Arms. The pub does not smell of fish either.

Buster branches out

 ****** EXCLUSIVE ******

From Brew Wales

Award-winning brewer and Chair of the Association of Welsh Independent Breweries, Justin 'Buster' Grant has today announced that he will be parting company with Breconshire Brewery and their owners Marlow's to form his own company, Brecon Brewing Limited. Marlow's has been up for sale for some time and Buster has decided that his future lies with his own company rather than working for someone else.
Buster, a Herriot-Watt graduate and a former brewer at Brakspears in Henley-upon-Thames, first moved to Wales some 10 years ago to start brewing in Brecon.
According to Buster, "The time has come to move on and form my own brewery and the opportunity has arisen with the sale of CH Marlow to branch out on my own, with help from a couple of friends".
Joining Buster in this venture will be former sales manager of Breconshire Brewery, Simon Hall, and the former manager of the Hobgoblin pub in Reading, Duncan Ward (think he also ran the Old Toad in Rochester NY at one time as well).
The 20 -barrel brewing plant will be up and running in the next few weeks, in time for Brecon Jazz Festival.
